New York City's Hotel Pipeline Shrinks, May Strain Supply

New York City is building fewer hotels, with only a third of the projects from 2020 still in the pipeline. Occupancy rates are high, and demand is expected to outpace supply by 2028.

Why it matters. Tourism and hotel occupancy are at pre-pandemic levels, but the reduced pipeline may lead to a shortage of hotel rooms in the coming years.
