Anduril and US Navy commit $6.6 billion to expand submarine parts production in Maryland

Anduril will invest $3.7 billion to build a new shipyard in Baltimore County to produce Virginia-class submarine components, while the US Navy awarded a $2.9 billion outcome-based contract for manufacturing. The Arsenal-2 facility is expected to be operational by the end of the decade and create 3,100 direct jobs.

Why it matters. The investment expands U.S. defense industrial capacity for critical submarine production amid efforts to strengthen maritime security following global conflicts.
