EPA awards $13.9 million for North Bay marsh restoration

The EPA selected the San Francisco Estuary Partnership and the Association of Bay Area Governments for a $13.9 million grant to restore about 1,500 acres at Strip Marsh East in Solano County. Work is expected to begin in 2028 and includes improving tidal flows, dredging a channel, reusing sediment to raise marsh elevations, and monitoring the project’s resilience benefits.

Why it matters. The project affects wetland habitat and the resilience of State Route 37 and nearby communities, while its sediment analysis may inform other San Francisco Bay restoration efforts.
