Boeing Tests Software for Manned-Unmanned Teaming with MQ-25A Drone Tanker

Boeing has tested software that allows pilots in crewed aircraft to coordinate with unmanned aircraft over a military communications network, advancing plans to integrate this capability into the U.S. Navy’s MQ-25A Stingray aerial refueling drone.

Why it matters. This technology could enhance the operational flexibility and efficiency of the U.S. Navy’s carrier air wings by allowing manned aircraft to direct unmanned tankers, potentially freeing up more fighters for strike missions.
