Microsoft opens preorders for $2,599 Surface Laptop Ultra with Nvidia AI chip

Microsoft announced that the Surface Laptop Ultra, featuring an Nvidia Blackwell RTX GPU, is available for preorder starting at $2,599 and will begin shipping Oct. 16. The company says the device can run some AI workloads locally and offers up to 128 GB of unified memory.

Why it matters. The launch adds a high-end consumer PC option designed for local AI workloads and affects Microsoft’s device business and competition among PC and AI hardware makers.
