Former German BND chief arrested on espionage charges

German authorities arrested former BND head August Hanning on suspicion of espionage, disclosure of state secrets, and attempted treason. A former high-ranking BND employee, Manfred D., was also arrested for allegedly providing Hanning with hundreds of classified documents over more than a decade in exchange for money.
