Global life expectancy nears pre-pandemic levels

The World Health Organization reports that global life expectancy has almost fully recovered to pre-pandemic levels, reaching 73.3 years in 2023, just shy of the 73.4 years in 2019.

Why it matters. Public health and global demographics are positively affected as life expectancy returns to pre-pandemic levels.
