Plants use hydrogen peroxide bursts to alert cells to wounds

Researchers at the University of Delaware discovered that tiny channels between plant cells, called plasmodesmata, send alert signals through hydrogen peroxide bursts when a plant is wounded. This finding could help in developing climate-resilient crops.

Why it matters. This discovery could aid in engineering more resilient crops that can better withstand environmental stressors.
