China's GDP expands 4.6% year-on-year in first nine months of 2026

China's National Bureau of Statistics reported that GDP grew 4.6% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2026, reaching 107.11 trillion yuan, within the annual target range of 4.5-5.0%. Third-quarter growth accelerated to 4.5% from 4.3% in Q2.

Why it matters. As the world's second-largest economy, China's growth trajectory affects global markets, trade flows, and commodity demand; the result is cited by international institutions as leading among major economies.
